Deputies looking for convict mistakenly released from jail

DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies and Fugitive Squad are looking for a criminal accidentally released from jail.

Joel Ledarius Harper, 22, was released from the DeKalb County Jail due to an administrative error on Nov. 21.

On Aug. 31, Harper was sentenced to 10 years in prison for two counts of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault.

Sheriff Thomas Brown stated that he and his staff are correcting the errors that caused this accidental release. “Harper should be considered desperate and dangerous,” Brown said.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Harper can contact the Sheriff’s Office’s 24-hour hotline at (404) 298-8200.
