Clarkston falls to Alabama school in soccer match


After going up 1-0 early in the match, the Clarkston Angoras soccer team failed to maintain the lead, losing to the Vestavia Hills (Ala.) Rebels 4-2 at Hallford Stadium March 17.

Clarkston scored at the 4:30 mark in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. Vestavia Hills responded with a goal by Tyler Turner at the 17:42 mark to tie the game. Vestavia Hills took a 2-1 at the 24:36 mark on a header by Davis Peterson, assisted by Andrew Tunnell.

Turner gave Vestavia Hills a 3-1 lead in the second half with a goal at the 3:14 mark. Turner scored his third goal of the game at the 22:20 mark in the second half to give the Rebels a 4-1 lead.

Clarkston would score on a penalty kick at the 32:51 mark to bring the final score to 4-2.

Clarkston, which is ranked no. 1 in Class AAAAA, fell to 8-1-1 in the season. The loss to Vestavia Hills was the Angoras’ first loss of the season.
