Four remain in baseball playoffs

Four DeKalb County baseball teams advanced to the Sweet 16 of the Georgia High School Association state playoffs after first-round series sweeps.

Three of the four teams advanced in the Class AAAAA playoffs. The Arabia Mountain Rams swept Riverwood 2-0 at home April 27. The Rams won the first game 7-2 and closed out the series with an 11-3 win in the second game. Arabia Mountain will host Flowery Branch May 3 in the Sweet 16.

The Chamblee Bulldogs swept Jackson-Atlanta April 27 to advance to the Sweet 16. Chamblee won the first game 10-5 and the second game 16-3. Chamblee will travel to Carrolton May 3 in the next round.

Decatur defeated Lithonia to punch their ticket to the next round. Decatur won the first game 10-1 and completed the series sweep with a 5-1 win in the second game. Decatur will host Buford in the second round May 3.

In Class AAAA, the defending champion Marist War Eagles beat Madison County to advance to the Sweet 16. Marist won the first game 16-6 and the second game 4-0. The War Eagles will travel to Cartersville May 3 for their second-round series.
