Major Joseph Woodall of the Clayton County police said the body of 24-year-old Andre Tripps was found by Clayton County fire fighters who were responding to a brush fire near Walden Ladings Apartments in Jonesboro.
“The fire department responded to a 2-acre brush fire and when they got to the center of it he was at the center of it,” Woodall said.
Police said Tripps’ hands and feet were tied up and his body was on fire. Woodall said Tripps’ brother reported him missing and in danger to Brookhaven police. Surveillance video before his death shows Tripps with several men in DeKalb County.
Woodall said police have some leads and working those leads.
“We’re trying to work on the connection on how he ended up from Brookhaven to Clayton County,” Woodall said. “We believe he’s a resident of Brookhaven or Duluth and we’re working on the connection between here and there.
“Once we do that we feel like we’ll be able to close [the case] more quickly,” Woodall added.
Tri-Cities Funeral Home in Lithonia, which has Tripps’ body, has not announced and funeral arrangements.
