Arabia Mountain coach collects career win 300

Arabia Mountain High School girls’ basketball coach Jerry Jackson picked up career win No. 300 on Dec. 10 when the Arabia Mountain Lady Rams’ defeated Clarke Central 65-23 on the road. 

Jackson is in his sixth season (2018-2023) at Arabia Mountain – where he has gone 109-24. His team is currently 9-1 overall on the season following the win over Clarke Central. His teams at Arabia Mountain are perennial playoff contenders with five consecutive playoff appearances, including advancing to the Sweet 16 three times and the Elite 8 round once.

The longtime DeKalb coaching veteran also spent eight seasons (2010-2017) at Redan High School coaching the Lady Raiders. At Redan, Jackson amassed a 191-40 record.

Jackson’s first team at Redan in 2010 went 31-1 and lost in the state title game 76-63 to Norcross. The 31 consecutive wins helped set a DeKalb record of 58 consecutive wins—dating back to the 2009 season—before the Lady Raiders lost to Norcross.

Four years later, Jackson had the Lady Raiders undefeated going into the state championship at 32-0 and finished off the Raiders’ second undefeated championship season with a 63-53 Class 4A state title win over Columbus High School.

This season, Jackson’s Lady Rams are 1-0 in region play and have scored 85 or more points five times in 10 games.
