Brookhaven Bucks open home stand

The Brookhaven Bucks Baseball Team will host five games in eight days at Oglethorpe University starting June 28.

The homestand includes two games versus Alpharetta (June 28-29), two games versus Choccolocco (July 1 and 3), and one game versus Gainesville. (July 5). All games will begin at 6:35 p.m.

The Brookhaven Bucks are members of the Sunbelt Baseball League, a summer collegiate wooden-bat league, funded in part by Major League Baseball (MLB), with teams in Georgia (Alpharetta, Atlanta, Brookhaven, Cartersville, Gainesville, Suwanee and Waleska) and Alabama (Choccolocco). The regular season runs through July 20 and playoffs will be held from July 23 through August 3.

Top college players from around the country participate in the Sunbelt League. Since the Bucks started playing in 2011, nearly 50 former players have gone on to play professional baseball, and the team has alumnus playing for the Savannah Bananas.

This year’s team includes four DeKalb County natives- Cian Khajavi from Brookhaven, Holden Baker from Brookhaven, Pierce Juhan from Brookhaven and Dawson Stevens from Dunwoody.

The Brookhaven Bucks home games are family friendly and include in-game entertainment for children, including on-field competitions, water balloon home run derby, player autographs and running the bases. Admission is $10 for adults and five dollars for kids.
