Toddler missing from Clarkston found safe

UPDATE: At 2:50 p.m., Georgia Bureau of Investigators (GBI) reported on social media that Barnett was found safe. No further details are available at this time.

Clarkston police were actively searching for a missing child believed to be a victim of kidnapping until after 2 p.m. on Nov. 11.

An Amber Alert was issued around 5:20 a.m. Nov. 10 after a 2002 Ford Explorer was stolen from 1000 Montreal Road with one-year-old Blaise Barnett inside.

At 11:30 a.m. that same morning, the vehicle which Barnett was in was recovered at Brannon Hill Condominiums at 1000 Old Hampton Drive, but the child was not inside the car. Police are continuing efforts to locate the child. Barnett was last seen wearing a green shirt with blue dinosaurs printed on it. He was not wearing pants and had a blanket wrapped around him. When the vehicle was discovered, Barnett’s black and tan car seat was also missing.

According to authorities, Barnett’s parents said he was sleeping in the family’s SUV while they unloaded items from the car. They said that when they returned from unloading the items, the Ford Explorer and Barnett were gone.

“The vehicle has been taken to the GBI headquarters for processing evidence. This is still a fluid and active investigation,” stated officials.
