Commissioner Stan Watson Encourages DeKalb County High School ROTC/JROTC Cadets in District 7 and the Community to “Help Take a Bite Out of Hunger”
Stan Watson, Super District 7 Commissioner, is challenging DeKalb County High School ROTC/JROTC Cadets in District 7 and the community to “help take a bite out of hunger” this holiday season.
Cans collected will be given to local social service organizations.
“It is no secret that individuals and families continue to struggle for basic needs and I know that there are people in the community that care,” states Commissioner Watson, “ I am so proud that our ROTC/JROTC Cadets partner with me each year with this challenge because they believe that no matter what, every can counts.”
Commissioner Watson encourages anyone who would like to assist with this effort to bring canned goods to the DeKalb Community Cabinet breakfast on Saturday, December 6th. The breakfast is at Chapel Hill Middle School located at 3535 Dogwood Farms Road, Decatur, Georgia, 30034 from 9A to 11A. There is no charge for the community breakfast and RSVP is not required. DeKalb County Police Chief Conroy and DeKalb County Fire Chief Fullum will be providing important safety tips to keep our loved ones safe. DeKalb House Delegation will preparing the community for what issues will be addressed during the 2015 Legislative Session, especially Cityhood. The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity will be making a presentation, and Chapel Hill Middle School Symphonic Band and Orchestra will be providing entertainment.
About the Breakfast: Since 1997, Commissioner Stan Watson has utilized this platform to connect elected and appointed officials, public safety representatives, DeKalb County services and resources and the community together. His purpose is to educate, inform, and inspire community-wide opportunities to work together.
County Commissioners can nominate one of these ROTC/JROTC cadet partners for The Servant’s Heart Award.
The award recognizes youth between the age of 12 and 18 who are making differences in their local communities through volunteerism.
