Commissioner unveils Beautification Grant
On Aug. 5, Super District 7 Commissioner LaDena Bolton, in partnership with the DeKalb County Community Development Department, announced the launch of the Super District 7 Beautification Grant Program.
The initiative is designed to enhance the visual appeal, safety, and livability of neighborhoods throughout District 7, which covers the eastern portion of the county and includes parts of Doraville, Tucker, Pine Lake, Stone Mountain, Stonecrest, Lithonia and unincorporated portions of DeKalb.
According to officials, The Super District 7 Beautification Grant Program provides funding between $1,000 and $5,000 to improve shared community spaces. The program also provides funding to homeowner associations, civic organizations, and residents to enhance the visual appeal and livability of communities across Super District 7.
Bolton said this initiative reflects her commitment to strengthening neighborhoods and empowering families through community-driven improvements. The program will be administered by the DeKalb County Community Development Department, according to a news release.
Officials stated that the application period will be 30 days, concluding on Sept. 3. Awards are determined based on project scope, available funding, and the potential for greatest community impact, including resident benefit, safety improvements, environmental value, and long–term sustainability, according to the news release, and projects will not be awarded on “first come,” “first served” basis.
Eligible applicants include homeowners’ associations, civic and neighborhood organizations, and private citizens representing their communities. All applicants must be residents of Super District 7 in DeKalb County, and proposed projects must be located in communal or shared-use spaces that provide a benefit to the surrounding neighborhood.
Applicants can obtain an application package by visiting the DeKalb County Community Development Department (178 Sams Street, Suite A-3500), visiting the DeKalb County official website, or contacting DeKalb County Community Development Department to request a SharePoint link to deposit an application electronically.
