DCSD School Choice enrollment open for students, families

DeKalb County School District (DCSD) students can apply for DCSD School Choice programs for the 2022-23 school year through Feb. 4.

According to DCSD officials, the district will also accept applications through Aug. 31, but DCSD officials said selection will be based on seat availability.

District officials said that during enrollment, families will have an opportunity to choose a school that best suits their child’s needs. School choice programs offer specialty classes in areas such as language, animal science, high achievers’ programs, dance and art, and other fields.

Pre-K does not participate in the school choice lottery, according to DCSD’s website, but those interested in DCSD’s Pre-K lottery can find more information at: www.dekalbschoolsga.org/pre-k/

Current students applying to the school choice program will need their seven-digit student ID and their guardian’s email address to logon. New students will need parent or guardian’s email address; proof of residency – gas, water, electric bill, mortgage/lease contract; an affidavit of residence for school choice application; their birth certificate; a fall 2020 semester report card; and test scores (MAP) for students applying to a magnet program.

DCSD officials said more information about MAP testing can be found at: https://www.nwea.org/the-map-suite/family-toolkit/.
