Decatur, Dunwoody senior living facilities win national award
An online tool that helps families find senior living and care across the U.S. has named two senior living facilities in DeKalb County as among the best in the nation.
Brighton Gardens of Dunwoody and Regency House by Barclay House in Decatur are among this year’s winners of the annual Best of Senior Living Awards presented by Seniorly, an online marketplace that helps seniors and their families find communities based on location, needs, and budget.
The two facilities in DeKalb County were recently honored with the award alongside 11 additional senior living businesses in Georgia.
Brighton Gardens of Dunwoody, located at 1240 Ashford Center Parkway, offers assisted living, memory care, and short-term stays.
Regency House by Barclay House, located at 341 Winn Way, is an independent living community offering studio, one- and two-bedroom units for senior citizens.
Both have amenities and services such as transportation, access to a gym, community spaces such as arts and crafts rooms and libraries, and healthy meals, according to each facility’s website.
Officials with Seniorly said they partnered with Skypoint, a generative data company, to mine and analyze customer and family reviews to create a sentiment rating across six categories for the awards: cleanliness, dining services, staff ratings, value, care services and overall resident satisfaction. To qualify, communities had to be in the top 5 percent of the sentiment ratings, have no serious licensing violations in the last three years, and no negative media coverage in the last two years, said officials.
The two senior living businesses in DeKalb County helped push Georgia into the top 10 states with the most award-winning facilities; Georgia is tied with New York at number seven on the list, according to the data provided by Seniorly.
Data on the website usafacts.org shows that senior citizens are the fastest-growing population in DeKalb County; a graph on the website shows a population increase of 70.5 percent between 2010 and 2022 for those aged 65 and older.
