Decatur police search for man who assaulted woman at gunpoint

Decatur police are searching for a suspect who sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint, then forced the victim to drive him to a different location in DeKalb County.

The incident occurred on May 12 at approximately 7 a.m. in the 300 block of West College Avenue, an area surrounded by homes, businesses, and schools.

According to Decatur police, “a female was outside of her residence in the 300 block of West College Avenue when she was approached by a male brandishing a firearm. The victim was ordered inside her residence at gunpoint and sexually assaulted by the suspect. The suspect then had the victim drive him to a location within DeKalb County.”

About two hours after the assault began, the victim was able to get to the Decatur Police Department.

“At approximately 9 a.m. on May 12, police responded to the lobby of the Decatur Police Department in reference to a sexual assault,” stated officials.

According to police, the suspect is described as a slender Black male, approximately 5’9”, early to mid-20s, with a medium complexion, wearing a gray T-shirt and gray pants.
