DeKalb hosting several regional basketball tournaments

DeKalb County School District (DCSD) has announced locations and dates for upcoming high school basketball tournaments.

Games at DCSD schools will begin Feb. 13 at locations throughout Georgia; DCSD is slated to host several championship games.

All schools listed include the boys’ and girls’ teams, unless otherwise stated.

Arabia Mountain will host the Region 4-5A tournament, which includes Arabia Mountain, Chamblee, Lithonia, M.L. King, Tucker, and Decatur. Games will be played Feb. 13, Feb. 15, and Feb. 17 beginning at 5:30 p.m. each day.

Miller Grove will host the Region 6-4A tournament featuring matchups between Miller Grove, Stephenson, Druid Hills, Southwest DeKalb, Stone Mountain, Clarkston (boys only), Hapeville Charter, Holy Innocents and Westminster. Tournament play will be held Feb. 13 – 15 and Feb. 17 – 18. Games begin at 7 p.m. on Feb. 13 and at 5:30 p.m. on all other dates. Eighth and ninth seed teams play Feb. 13 and main bracket play starts on Feb. 14.

Columbia will host Region 5-2A tournament semifinals and finals, potentially involving McNair, Redan, Towers, Eagle’s Landing Christian, Elite Scholars, Callaway and Landmark Christian. All first-round games in the Region 5-2A tournament scheduled for Feb. 13 will be played at the home court of the higher seeded team beginning at 7:30 p.m. Semifinals and finals are set for Feb. 15 and Feb. 17 at Columbia High School beginning at 5:30 p.m. both days.

Several other DeKalb teams will visit Riverwood for the Region 4-6A tournament featuring Dunwoody, Lakeside, Riverwood, Marist, North Atlanta, St. Pius, and South Cobb. Play-in games with the sixth seeds (including Lakeside-DeKalb) hosting the seventh seeds begin Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. Quarterfinals are hosted by the No. 3 seed on Feb. 14 beginning at 4 p.m. with the semifinals on Feb. 16 at Riverwood. The championship will be held Feb. 17 at 8:30 p.m.

The Region 5-3A tournament involving Cedar Grove, Carver-Atlanta, Douglass, and Sandy Creek will be played at Sandy Creek. First-round play is set for Feb. 14 with the finals on Feb. 16. Play begins at 5:30 p.m. both days.

The Region 7-1A tournament championship will be held at Greenforest McCallep Christian Academy. Play began Feb. 7 for 1A boys’ schools. Greenforest boys’ will play their next tournament game Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. The girls’ play Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. with a championship set for Feb. 13. The boys’ championship is set for Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

All DeKalb teams still playing are locked into their region tournaments but seeding and locations could change before Feb. 12. The final locations and dates of games will be available at.ghsa.net/complete-region-basketball-tournaments once completed. The top four finishers from each region will advance to the state championship.
