Dunwoody career expo to attract several industries and communities
A career fair will be held at Perimeter Mall on March 30 featuring employers from a range of industries and surrounding communities, according to a news release from city of Dunwoody.
The job fair—dubbed HIREDunwoody—is a partnership between city officials, Community Assistance Center’s Career Center (CAC), Discover Dunwoody, Perimeter Chamber, WorkSource DeKalb, and Perimeter Mall to “connect employers and job seekers with a comprehensive career fair,” the news release states.
Employers hiring at the career expo include Dunwoody Police Department, Northside Hospital, IHG, Hapag-Lloyd, UPS, and State Farm. Perimeter Mall merchants and Dunwoody hotels such as the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter, Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Center, and the Hyatt Place Atlanta Perimeter are also expected on site.
City officials said all are welcome and that there is no cost to attend. Job seekers are encouraged to register in advance using this link: http://hiredunwoody.com/.
“We’re grateful for our partners and our common goal of helping job seekers discover new opportunities with room to grow,” said Mayor Lynn Deutsch. “Easy access from MARTA, I-285 and Georgia 400 make Dunwoody a great fit for so many job seekers and employers.”
Job seekers are encouraged to arrive at 10 a.m. to participate in a one-hour career workshop before the mall opens. The workshop is presented by WorkSource DeKalb, Corners Outreach, and IN THE DOOR, a workforce development strategy and training firm. Dunwoody officials said the workshop will focus on resumes and include tips for navigating career fairs.
Discover Dunwoody Director of Marketing Mark Galvin is also expected to share strategies for optimizing LinkedIn profiles, feeds, and connections.
“HIREDunwoody is designed to be a one-stop shop, where you can learn about job openings, meet with hiring managers, and explore a new career path,” said George Northrop, career center director at the Community Assistance Center. “Career expos like this help companies connect with job seekers who might not make it through the usual resume screening but have the skills or experience that make a great employee. HIREDunwoody will create opportunities to find the right role in Dunwoody for job seekers.”
During the event, WorkSource DeKalb will set up its Mobile Career Resource Center. The center is a 13-station, state-of-the-art, fully accessible computer lab for job seekers to update their resumes and print copies to present to prospective employers, according to WorkSource DeKalb officials.
