Dunwoody gets fifth consecutive win over Chamblee

The Golden Spike returned to Dunwoody High School for the fifth consecutive season after the Wildcats’ 23-7 win over the Chamblee Bulldogs Aug. 31 at North DeKalb Stadium.

Chamblee, who’s coach returned to the team from suspension hours before the game, jumped out to a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Brayson Seaborne. Dunwoody tied the game at 7-7 in the second quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Bradley Fields.

Dunwoody gained a 14-7 lead later in the quarter on a 23-yard run by Thomas Neville. Chamblee struggled to get anything going on offense in the third quarter. The Bulldogs had a fumble inside their own 20-yard line, and Dunwoody’s Daniel Claytor got to the quarterback and sacked him in the end zone for a safety, extending the Wildcats’ lead to 16-7.

Dunwoody sealed the win on a 3-yard touchdown run by Neville.

Dunwoody moved to 1-1 on the season and will begin its region portion of the schedule Sept. 7 against Cambridge at North DeKalb Stadium. Chamblee (0-3) will hit the field again Sept. 14 at Pickens County.
