Dunwoody invites residents to clean up

City of Dunwoody officials have invited individuals, families, neighbors, teams, schools, and civic groups to take part in what officials call The Great Dunwoody Cleanup on Nov. 1.

The citywide effort is designed to protect streams and storm drains by removing litter and debris from public spaces.

“The Great Dunwoody Cleanup keeps gaining momentum because it’s easy for anyone to jump in,” said Dunwoody Stormwater Manager Cody Dallas. “When volunteers clear trash before it reaches a storm drain, they’re directly preventing pollution in our creeks.”

Dunwoody is entering its fifth year for the event, and the city is once again rallying volunteers for one of its annual acts of community service.

City officials state that all ages are welcome, though children must be accompanied by adults.

To participate, volunteers can do the following:

  • Pick a spot in Dunwoody to clean a street, stream, neighborhood common area, or wooded space.

Several groups have already registered, including the Waterford Neighborhood Association and F3 Dunwoody, according to a news release. Kingsley Elementary School is seeking volunteers to help clean up the outdoor classroom, clear debris, weeds, and plant flowers. The event runs rain or shine, from sunrise to sundown, city officials stated. The news release added that community service verification is available upon request.
