Dunwoody police release details, including suspects/victim identities, after mall shooting
Officials with Dunwoody Police Department recently released additional information about a shooting that occurred at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody – including the names of the victim and two suspects who have been arrested.
The shooting, which occurred on Jan. 6 inside the mall, left two people wounded, the mall temporarily evacuated, and a scene that witnesses described as “chaotic” as people fled the mall and sped out to the parking lots.
When police arrived on scene, they found a victim with a gunshot wound near the food court on the lower level of the mall, according to officials. The victim has now been identified as 18-year-old Che’saun Lacey, according to police. At press time, police stated that Lacey remains in stable condition at Grady Hospital with serious injuries.
While police said they could not initially locate the suspect, after speaking with witnesses and reviewing security camera footage, they saw the shooter fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
“Descriptions of the shooter and the vehicle were given to all surrounding agencies,” said a police spokesperson. “The suspect and vehicle were then located at the Pleasantdale Crossing Apartments in DeKalb County.”
Officers said that once they located the suspect, they discovered the suspect also had been shot.
Dunwoody police have since arrested and charged two men involved in the shooting: 20-year-old Roykell Holder and 21-year-old Raymond Pierre.
Police said that Pierre was with Holder at the time of the shooting, fleeing the area with Holder driving the vehicle away from the scene.
Holder has been charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and reckless conduct. He was also treated at Grady Hospital for a gunshot wound.
Pierre has been charged with party to the crime of aggravated battery and reckless conduct.
While Dunwoody police say the investigation is ongoing, witnesses said the victim and the suspected shooter appeared to be in a verbal argument when the shooting occurred.
