Easter events spring up throughout DeKalb

The Easter Bunny will be hopping back into town soon and cities throughout DeKalb County will celebrate with egg hunts, food, games, and related activities. Check out these fun events:

Avondale Estates

When the parade ends, light refreshments will be provided by Peach State Cadillac and LaSalle Club. Brookhaven
After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Peter Rabbit will return to Brookhaven for a series of fun events for families.
On April 9 from 10 a.m. to noon, the Eggstraordinary Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Lynwood Park located at 3360 Osborne Road. This new event will provide special considerations for visually and hearing-impaired participants as well as those in wheelchairs and children who are sensory-sensitive, said officials. The holiday funfest will be held on the outdoor basketball courts (handicap accessible) behind the recreation center. Activities will include beeping eggs, magnetic eggs with wands to help find them, a bean bag hunt for sensory-sensitive children and other activities.
Also on April 9 at 2 p.m., another special event, the Dog Gone Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Blackburn Park Softball Fields located at 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road. The Dog Gone Easter Egg Hunt is for all residents and their “fur babies.” Specially prepared Easter eggs containing pet treats will be hidden throughout the dog run. Pet owners are encouraged to keep their dog on a leash throughout the hunt to maintain pet control and help prevent accidental ingestion of the treat-filled plastic eggs.
On Saturday, April 16, beginning at 10 a.m., the annual Easter Egg Scramble will be open to all Brookhaven children at Blackburn Park, located at 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road. The Easter Egg Scramble will feature food trucks offering breakfast fare. Egg hunters will be divided into age groups (3 and younger; 4 to 6, and 7 and older) with separate areas for each.
For all three events, the Easter Bunny will be on hand to pose for pictures. All those wishing to participate should bring their own basket to use when gathering the Easter eggs. All three events are free to the public.
“We invite all families to come out to experience these great spring traditions. There is no limit to the fun – you can attend any event you want or come to all three,” said Parks and Recreation Director Brian Borden.
