Event to foster community pride for East Memorial Drive coming soon

The East Memorial Drive Revitalization Foundation (EMDRF) in collaboration with the DeKalb County Planning and Sustainability Department is hosting a celebration to honor good neighbors and the positive impact they have on communities.

On Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., EMDRF and community partners will host a day of unity and celebration with Good Neighbors Day Out, which coincides with National Good Neighbors Day.

The day promotes “fostering a strong sense of community,” according to officials – a sentiment that members of EMDRF said they want to celebrate locally through “promoting the collective efforts of DeKalb County’s Community Action Groups (CAGs) in revitalizing East Memorial Drive.”

“Good Neighbors Day Out is an inclusive event that brings residents, businesses, community leaders, government officials, and more together,” stated officials. “Those in attendance will have the chance to meet and engage with representatives from various organizations who are actively working towards the revitalization of East Memorial Drive. Connect, collaborate, and exchange ideas with like-minded individuals who share the vision of a vibrant and thriving community.”

Live music performances, interactive games, community projects, vendor booths plus food, crafts, and unique products from local businesses will also be a part of the all-ages event, stated officials.

“Throughout the event, we will be highlighting and honoring outstanding neighbors who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of East Memorial Drive,” said EMDRF members. “Be part of the special award ceremony as we recognize these exceptional individuals for their selflessness and dedication to our community. This (event) is the perfect opportunity to connect with DeKalb County neighbors and learn more about the remarkable initiatives taking place in our community.”

The free event will take place at 5479 Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain.
