Events scheduled for Dunwoody ‘Arts and Culture Month’
Officials from city of Dunwoody announced that more than 20 events will be held in October to celebrate Arts and Culture Month in Dunwoody.
The city’s website states that the event list combines “diverse art, culture, and nature organizations and their members,” in “an annual salute to [Dunwoody’s] cultural and artistic treasures and their impact on the metro Atlanta community.”
Dunwoody Arts and Culture Month is celebrated every October in conjunction with National Arts and Humanities month.
In addition to the events, the city’s website encouraged community members to tour Dunwoody’s public art spaces – which can be viewed on a map at dunwoodyga.gov/government/arts-and-culture/find-public-art.
The art and cultural events scheduled in October include:
- Oct. 1 – Facing Y’all: Inclusion Through the Lens will be held each day from Oct. 1 – Oct. 29 at Spruill Gallery, 4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road.
- The event is Spruill Center’s photography exhibit about the South.
- Oct. 2 – Skatepark Murals
- Brook Run Skatepark will feature Black History Month and Women’s History Month art around its fence throughout the month.
- Oct. 2, 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. – An adult improv class with Dad’s Garage will be held at Dunwoody Cultural Arts Center, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- Oct. 3, all day – Let’s Talk Artist Talk at 4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road.
- An artist forum will be held at Spruill Gallery.
- Oct. 8, 2-5 p.m. – Paint Like Bob Ross
- Attendees can paint nature portraits outdoors at the Dunwoody Nature Center, 5343 Roberts Drive.
- Oct. 9, 7 – 9 p.m. – Adult improv class with Dad’s Garage at Dunwoody Cultural Arts Center, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- Oct. 13, 6 – 8:30 p.m. – Fun + Fab Friday Night Workshops at Spruill Center for the Arts, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- Attendees can create Halloween-themed watercolor drip paintings.
- Oct. 14, all day – Pumpkin patch at Dunwoody Nature Center, 5343 Roberts Drive.
- Oct. 14, 4 – 7 p.m. – Spirit for Spruill and AMPLIFY will reveal a new mural at Spruill Gallery, 4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road.
- Oct. 15, 3:30 until 5 p.m. – Howling Halloween Photoshoot is scheduled for Brook Run Park, 4770 North Peachtree Road.
- Guests may bring their pet for a portrait at Brook Run Dog Park and are recommended to dress themselves and their pets in Halloween attire. Time slots are $20.
- Oct. 16, 7 until 9:30 p.m. – An adult improv class with Dad’s Garage will be held at Dunwoody Cultural Arts Center, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- Oct. 18, 6 p.m. – Wine, Whiskey, and Wildflowers will be held at The Village Dunwoody Courtyard, 5521 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- The event will feature an interactive tasting with Aleshia Macomber of Redwood Empire Whiskey and Raeburn Winery. Tickets are $60 and 10 percent of ticket sales will go to Dunwoody Nature Center.
- Oct. 20, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. – Fun + Fab Friday Night Workshops will take place at Spruill Center for the Arts, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- The event will be a painting and drawing workshop for “all things Halloween.”
- Oct. 20, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. – Fun + Fab Friday Night Workshops will be held at Spruill Center for the Arts, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- In addition to the Halloween workshop, a workshop on quilting also will be held.
- Oct. 21, noon – 6 p.m. – The Halloween Scout Farm Festival will take place at the Donaldson-Bannister Farm, 4831 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- The event will include a trick-or-treat mystery adventure, food, a petting zoo, crafts, games, and other family friendly events.
- Oct. 23, 7 – 9:30 p.m. – An adult improv class with Dad’s Garage will be held at Dunwoody Cultural Arts Center, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- Oct. 26, 5 – 9 p.m. – Truck or Treat will take place at Brook Run Park, 4770 North Peachtree Road.
- The event will also include live music and food trucks.
- Oct. 27, all day – Spruill Center’s 21st Annual Ceramic Bowl Sale will occur at Dunwoody Cultural Arts Center, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- Oct. 29, 1 – 4 p.m. – Spruill Center will host Rangoli and Diya art workshops on Oct. 29 (and on Nov. 1 and Nov. 3) at 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- The Diwali in Dunwoody events are presented by Create Dunwoody and will feature a variety of activities for all ages.
- Oct. 30, 7 – 9:30 p.m. – Dad’s Garage will host an adult improv class at Dunwoody Cultural Arts Center, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
