Freedom Middle School students collect hygiene items for project

Freedom Middle School’s Future Business Leaders of America and Robotics team recently completed its community service challenge of filling a “Clean Cargo” trashcan with hygiene items.

The Clean Cargo project creates drives to collect hygiene items for students who may lack necessities such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant and shampoo, and items are donated to Title 1 elementary schools, or schools with the highest percentages of children from low-income families.

The Freedom Middle School group collected more than 500 hygiene items during a four-week period for the project, according to Clean Cargo founder Johari Dozier. They were treated to a Waffle House breakfast on Dec. 12.
