Stoneview Elementary School third graders had special visitors Oct. 28.

The Georgia Prep Sports Academy (GPSA) football team visited the Lithonia school to talk to students about the importance of reading. They also spent time reading to the students. GPSA coach Michael Carson said this was an opportunity for his players to do some community service.

“One of the teachers requested some of the guys to come in and help their reading program to help the young people understand the importance of reading,” he said. “We saw it as a great opportunity for these guys to give back and offer a hand to those kids.

“Hopefully it will instill some value into what they want to do as they grow up and become high school students and hopefully they will remember that experience,” he added.

I think this is amazing. I went to Stoneview from PRE-K to 5th and I’m in 9th now. I wish we had this when I was going there
