Lakeside falls to Shiloh in regional matchup

The Lakeside Vikings dropped to 2-3 on the season after falling to Shiloh High School 35-0 on Sept. 26 at North DeKalb Stadium.

The charge for the Shiloh Generals was led by running back Tyrese Dorsey, who rushed for more than 130 yards on his way to completing a hat trick on 17 carries on the night.

Dorsey got his first touchdown with a five-yard halfback dive to give Shiloh the first score of the game with less than a minute remaining in the first quarter. Generals’ kicker Yoel Quintana hit the extra point to make it 7-0 going into the second quarter.

Momentum began building for the Generals in the second period as the team went on to halt the Vikings’ offense with multiple tackles for loss and putting up two sacks in the quarter.

With less than 10 minutes to play in the half, the Generals upped the score to 13-0 with a 13-yard touchdown run by Trevaughn Bell as he bullied his way through the Vikings’ defense. Quintana made the score 14-0.

After multiple four-and-out drives by both teams, Shiloh quarterback AJ Austin made the score 21-0 after throwing a four-yard back-shoulder ball to Tycen Roberts for the score. Moments later, Vikings’ quarterback Ayden Grubel gave Shiloh another opportunity to score with less than two minutes to play in the half after throwing an interception to Shiloh’s Patrick Smith to set the Generals up at the Vikings’ 23-yard line.

With seconds left in the half, Dorsey got his second touchdown on the night with two-yard run to give Shiloh a 28-0 lead going into halftime.

The Vikings tried to get something going in the third after Canon Davis leaped for an interception to put Lakeside at the Generals’ 46-yard line, but an incomplete pass and another sack by Shiloh’s defense forced the ball back to the opposing team.

Shiloh scored its last points with Dorsey getting his third touchdown on the night with a scamper up the middle for an18-yard touchdown. Quintana made the final score 35-0.

The Vikings will look to get back on the right track as they take on Dunwoody on Oct. 2 back at North DeKalb Stadium.
