MARTA market returning to Doraville, Decatur

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) and Community Farmers Markets will kick off the MARTA Market 2024 season on June 11, with weekly stops planned for DeKalb’s Doraville and Kensington stations.

According to a news release, each MARTA Market farm stand will operate one day per week after the June 11 start, Tuesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at select rail stations. Doraville Station’s market will open on Fridays; Kensington Station will host its market days on Thursdays. West End, H.E. Holmes, and College Park will host the non-DeKalb markets, while the MARTA Market at Five Points is temporarily closed.

Doraville Station is located at 6000 New Peachtree Road, and Kensington Station is at 3350 Kensington Road in Decatur.

MARTA Markets source locally grown produce from farmers affiliated with Community Farmers Markets and several local food hubs, according to a news release. “This allows local farmers to sell more produce to customers who might not otherwise make it to a farmer’s market,” the news release  states, which added that “non-local produce complements the fresh food available.”

The markets accept cash, credit, debit, and EBT/SNAP. SNAP is doubled at the market, according to the news release, meaning $5 swiped is worth $10 to spend.
