Multiple fugitive arrests made within one week

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit was busy the last week of February into the first week of March as four different fugitive arrests for multiple violent crimes were made throughout Decatur, Ellenwood, and Stone Mountain.

The week of arrests started Feb. 26 when members of DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, along with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Clarkston Police Department, captured a suspect in connection with a June 2024 fatal shooting in Clarkston.

Investigators stated they arrested 18-year-old Kalil Alfred at a residence off Revenue Trail in Ellenwood. According to arrest warrants, Alfred is charged with malice murder in the shooting death of Samuel Dorsey. The crime occurred at the Parc 1000 Apartments, where Dorsey was shot multiple times and pronounced dead on site.

Alfred was taken into custody without incident and transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where, at press time, he was being held without bond.

The next day, Feb. 27, the fugitive unit, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested two suspects in separate homicide investigations.

Investigators took 22-year-old Robert Grady into custody at a residence on Cedarbrook Drive in Decatur. Authorities allege that last year, Grady and another individual exited a Jeep and opened fire on three individuals inside a vehicle in the 1300 block of Brockett Road outside of an adult entertainment club, leaving one man critically injured and resulting in the death of 31-year-old Gary Matthews of Lithonia, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Grady is charged with malice murder and at press time, was being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.

Investigators also arrested 20-year-old Hamid Dawd Waykuur at the same residence on Cedarbrook Drive in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Messiah Battle of Clarkston, at the Springdale Glen Apartments in the 3800 block of Brockett Trail in 2024. Waykuur is charged with malice murder and at press time, was being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.

Approximately four days later, the county’s fugitive unit, assisted by deputies, arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last month on Feb. 11 at a fast-food restaurant in the 5100 block of Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain. Sheriff’s deputies took 31-year-old Kentrell Nicole Terrell into custody at a residence on Ficus Court in Stone Mountain.

According to arrest warrants, Terrell is charged with malice murder in the death of Precious Jones, who was shot multiple times and pronounced dead on scene. Terrell was arrested without incident and transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where, at press time, she was being held.
