NFL player gives back to his hometown
On Nov. 22, the Andrew Thomas Foundation hosted its 7th annual Thanksgiving Giveaway in the hometown of New York Giants offensive tackle Andrew Thomas at Lithonia City Hall.
With support from the New York Giants, the drive-thru distribution provided 350 turkeys and pantry bags, supporting 50 additional families this year. The event was free.
This year’s giveaway was led by Andrew’s parents, Belinda Thomas and Andre Thomas, along with his wife, Ashley-Ann Thomas, who oversaw the distribution on behalf of the foundation.
Along with Andrew Thomas Foundation officials, players from Lithonia High School’s varsity football team also joined in to give out turkeys and pantry bags.
The Andrew Thomas Foundation was established by the New York Giants’ All-Pro tackle to provide educational and athletic opportunities to youth and resources to families in underserved communities. The foundation focuses on youth football camps, education support, and addressing food insecurity.
“Being able to give back to Lithonia for a seventh year really means a lot. This is the community that shaped who I am, and I’ve seen the strength and kindness in the people here my whole life,” stated Andrew Thomas. “We want to help lighten the load a bit for families during the holidays and keep showing up for one another. I’m grateful to everyone who helps make this happen.”
Drafted in 2020 as the fourth overall pick from UGA, Thomas has become a cornerstone for the New York Giants Franchise. In 2022, the left tackle earned Second-Team All-Pro honors and posted a 90.3 grade from Pro Football Focus (PFF), ranking him top five in NFL tackles. During this season, Thomas remains a top tackle in the league, only giving up one sack on the year. According to PFF, Thomas is ranked the fourth-best tackle in the NFL so far.
