Police need public’s help identifying Zaxby’s murder suspect

Officials with DeKalb County Police Department (DKPD) said they are seeking any information from the public that will lead to the arrest of a suspect after a deadly incident at a Zaxby’s restaurant in Lithonia.

The murder occurred on Feb. 6 at the Zaxby’s located at 2316 Panola Road. According to police, an unknown suspect got into a verbal dispute with the victim, 24-year-old Kenyon Jones.

“As an employee of the Zaxby’s location attempted to diffuse the situation, the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot Jones multiple times,” stated police. “The suspect then began to physically assault Jones after shooting him.”

After the shooting and assault, the suspect fled the location prior to police arrival. Police said the suspect is believed to live in the area of the Zaxby’s and travels frequently on foot.

In surveillance images from the restaurant disseminated by police, the suspect appears to be an African American male with facial hair wearing a black cap and black hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, stated police. Anyone with information is asked to contact DKPD at 770-724-7850 or call 911.
