Police search for suspect in mall restaurant shooting

DeKalb County police are searching for a suspect they believe is responsible for a murder at The Gallery at South DeKalb (South DeKalb mall).

Police said a fight over a woman led to a shooting that left one man dead and three others injured on June 10. The incident occurred at Fletcher’s Place, a restaurant that has been a part of the mall since 2007.

The murder victim has been identified as Daletevios McGuire.

On June 12, DeKalb County Police Department officials released a number of photos of the suspect pulled from nearby security cameras. At press time, authorities are asking the public to help identify him, said officials.

“We need the public’s assistance in identifying the man pictured,” said officials. “The suspect is wanted for the June 10 murder of Daletevios McGuire at 2801 Candler Road. The suspect is described as a 30-to 40-year-old Black male with a bald head and possible facial hair on his chin.”

On June 11, officials with Fletcher’s Place posted on Facebook that the restaurant would be closed while the investigation is ongoing.

“We are deeply saddened by the incident that took place on June 10 at our South DeKalb location,” the statement reads. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected by this senseless and unfortunate situation. An investigation has been launched and we are fully cooperating with authorities. As of today, Fletcher’s at South DeKalb Mall will be temporarily closed until the conclusion of the police investigation.
