Stone Mountain court announces amnesty program

The Stone Mountain Municipal Court, located at 875 Main St. is offering a Traffic Amnesty Program from March 2 to March 31 to help individuals resolve outstanding traffic and code enforcements citations and restore their driving records.

The program is available to individuals with unpaid traffic and code citations issued within the city of Stone Mountain.

According to city officials, this program is designed to allow participants to address unresolved citations in a single visit while waiving failure-to-appear fees that may have accrued. Most eligible traffic violations may be resolved without appearing before a judge. However, certain violations—such as no proof of insurance or suspended vehicle registration—will require a court appearance. In those cases, individuals must visit the Stone Mountain Municipal Court during the amnesty period, and a hearing will be scheduled.

Participants who successfully resolve their citations through the program will receive documentation that can be submitted to the Georgia Department of Driver Services or other appropriate agencies to assist in restoring their driving record.

“The goal of this program is to provide individuals with an efficient opportunity to resolve outstanding matters and move forward with a clean driving record,” said Kristie Tucker, Stone Mountain municipal clerk of court.

The Stone Mountain Municipal Court is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will also be open March 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., just for amnesty.
