Stonecrest to host resource fair to kickoff civic campaign

The city of Stonecrest is launching a campaign centered on civic pride in DeKalb County’s largest city. To kick off the months-long celebration, the city is inviting the community to a free resource fair and pep rally.

On April 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Stonecrest residents and those living outside of the city are invited to enjoy live music, complimentary food and refreshments, community resource vendors, bounce houses, games, free giveaways and photo opportunities with Atlanta Falcons mascot Freddie Falcon. It will be held at Stonecrest City Hall located at 3120 Stonecrest Boulevard.

The free community resource fair kicks off Stonecrest PROUD!, a campaign “designed to celebrate the people, progress, and spirit” of the city, according to an announcement.

“This campaign is about connecting with our residents, schools, businesses, faith-based organizations, civic leaders, and partners much more intentionally,” said Stonecrest Mayor Jazzmin Cobble. “We want Stonecrest PROUD! to reflect the heart of our people and our collective vision for a world-class city that inspires others to visit, purchase a home, or start a business here.”

The campaign runs through August and will include a series of social media videos spotlighting Stonecrest residents, businesses, city employees and community leaders. Officials also said residents and visitors can be on the lookout for Stonecrest PROUD! billboards, yard signs, and resource materials designed to help broaden awareness of city/county services and strengthen community engagement.

Cobble, members of city council, and department heads will be on hand at the resource fair to meet and greet attendees. Job seekers are invited to drop off copies of their resumes and speak directly with Stonecrest Human Resources to learn about current and upcoming job opportunities, and DeKalb Public Health will provide free health screenings, said officials.
