Suther Center Food Pantry moves to Brookhaven

City of Brookhaven officials announced Suthers Center Food Pantry—formerly located in Chamblee—re-opened in Brookhaven at St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church at 3110 Ashford Dunwoody Road NE. City officials said the pantry will be open every Saturday from 8-10 a.m.

The pantry will help those facing hunger and in need of immediate relief by offering canned goods, rice, cereal, fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen meats, breads, deserts and other food items, according to city officials.

Sources for food distributed include The Atlanta Community Food Bank and Second Helpings Atlanta, a nonprofit food rescue organization.

City official said Oglethorpe Presbyterian, Brookhaven Christian and Brookhaven Methodist churches partnered with St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church for the food pantry after the original pantry was founded nearly 50 years ago at Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church.

Brookhaven officials said Suthers Center Food Pantry primarily serves those located in the 30319 and 30341 area codes for now, and the pantry is currently drive-thru only and requires a photo ID and proof of residency.

At their former Chamblee location, the four churches distributed approximately 200,000 pounds of food in 2019, according to city officials. The food was donated to more than 4,000 people, including 500 children.
