Tis the season for festive theater

Live theater is one of the best ways to get into the holiday mood. Whether dramatic or comedic, DeKalb County and metro Atlanta theater companies’ holiday offerings are filled with spirited songs, festive set decorations, and tales that are emotionally moving and capture the essence of the season.
Here are some of the performances being staged locally this season:

ART Station

The Paisley Sisters’ Christmas Special

It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
Runs Dec. 1-7

A Soulful Christmas
An African-American Christmas musical, A Soulful Christmas, is about two children experiencing the holiday surprise of their young lives. Christmas Belles

A Christmas Carol

Y’all Christmas
Described as an “improvised holiday ‘movie’ Y’all Christmas runs through Dec. 30. “This show takes tried-and-true holiday tropes, audience suggestions, a rotating cast of three veteran improvisors from Dad’s Garage, and a different daily guest Horizon actor to create an all-new, live, onstage holiday “movie” from scratch every night.” Tickets $30-$45. Madeline’s Christmas
