Tucker asks for residents’ input on comprehensive plan update
Tucker residents and stakeholders may attend a city council meeting on March 27 at 7 p.m. at Tucker City Hall (1975 Lakeside Ave., Suite 350) to participate in the first step of updating the city’s comprehensive plan.
City officials said the comprehensive plan, dubbed the Tucker Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan, is used to guide future development in Tucker. City councilmembers approved the first version of the plan in 2018 with plans to update in 2023 through a partnership with Sizemore Group.
The March 27 council meeting marks the first public hearing for the update. City officials said residents and stakeholders can “share their vision for the long-term future,” of Tucker at the meeting.
According to the city spokesperson, the main focus of the update will be to include a new community work program and a report of accomplishments that describe the current status of each activity in the previous community work program. The update is also expected to add language regarding broadband services and housing data.
According to the first Tucker Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan, the city’s community work program “will assure” that the city’s comprehensive plan is implemented. The original plan also notes that the community work program “can and should change over time.”
The city’s website states that other project objectives include analyzing recent annexations and rezonings and the recent update to the DeKalb County 2050 Comprehensive Plan for impact to Tucker or the comprehensive plan and hosting several community engagement sessions.
In addition to the March 27 meeting, Tucker residents and stakeholders are also invited to complete a survey that will be released in April and to attend meetings on April 15 at the Tucker Spring Fling event on Church Street and at 6:30 p.m. on May 4 at Tucker City Hall.
City officials will also host public hearing dates at city hall for the planning commission on May 18 at 7 p.m. and additional hearings for the city council on June 12 and June 26, both at 7 p.m., according to the city’s website.
