Two shootings in 24 hours lead to six hospitalized

DeKalb County police are investigating two shootings that occurred in Lithonia and Decatur that led to six people being hospitalized, including a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old.

On the morning of June 21, officials with DeKalb County Police Department released two separate statements about the incidents.

In the first statement, officials said that two adult males and a 5-year-old child were hospitalized after a shooting incident that occurred on June 20 at 223 Meadowood Ridge in Lithonia.

All three of the victims are expected to survive, according to police.

Then, in a separate statement released on the morning of June 21, officials with DeKalb County Police Department said a shooting on Maypop Lane in Decatur sent two adults and one child to area hospitals.

“The victims are identified as two adult males and a two-year-old female,” stated police. “One adult and the child are currently reported to be in critical condition and the other adult is in stable condition at local hospitals.”

Detectives, who did not reveal the identities of the victims in either case, said they are currently investigating both cases and following up on potential leads and added that the incident on Maypop Lane does not appear to be a random act.
