Two Sundays added to early voting schedule in DeKalb County
DeKalb County voters will now have advanced voting options on two Sundays this October.
On Oct. 17 and Oct. 24, advance voting will be open from noon until 5 p.m. at all designated advance voting locations in DeKalb County.
“It is vital that DeKalb voters have every opportunity to cast their ballots during the advance voting period and on Election Day, so it was essential that the board explored an option to add two Sunday voting days this election cycle,” said recently appointed DeKalb Voter Registration Board Member Karli Swift, who advocated for the expansion of Sunday voting. “I, along with my colleagues on the board, believe that giving voters access to the polls is a fundamental role of our job as board members.”
Absentee ballots for the Nov. 2 elections were mailed Oct. 12. Advance voting will take place Oct. 12 through Oct. 29, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday advance voting days are Oct. 16 and Oct. 23, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Early voting locations with drop boxes include the Bessie Branham Recreation Center in Atlanta, the Lynwood Recreation Center in Brookhaven, the Voter Registration and Elections Office in Decatur, the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library in Tucker, the County Line Ellenwood Library in Ellenwood, and the Dunwoody Library in Dunwoody. Drop boxes are under 24/7 surveillance inside designated voting locations and are only available during advance voting hours, stated officials.
Other early voting locations without drop boxes include Berean Christian Church – Family Life Center in Stone Mountain and the Stonecrest Library in Stonecrest.
More than 80 candidates have qualified for the numerous mayoral, city council, city commissioner, and board of education races happening throughout DeKalb County. Election Day is Nov. 2.
