Woman dies in Decatur house fire

A woman was found dead on the afternoon of Feb. 18 after a house fire in Decatur. 

According to DeKalb County Fire Rescue Spokesman Capt. Dion Bentley, fire crews responded to the home in the 2300 block of Troy Cove Road near Titan Ridge Drive at around 2 p.m.

The home was approximately 25 percent engulfed in flames, according to Bentley, and the flames were extinguished after approximately 10 minutes. A 62-year-old female was found dead in the living room of the home. The woman’s brother, who made the call to 911 to report the fire, was also in the home at the time but escaped without injury. 

The fire reportedly started in the living room of the home where the woman was found dead. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
