DKPD townhalls to unveil goals for the new year
DeKalb County Police Department (DKPD) will host the first meeting in a four-part town hall series scheduled throughout January on Jan. 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stonecrest Library.
Residents and stakeholders have three more opportunities to attend one of the meetings on Jan. 15, Jan. 22, and Jan. 29 at different locations in the county.
The series is dubbed “Town Hall Talks—A Wrap-up of 2024,” according to a news release. These open forums will give community members an opportunity to come together to discuss important issues, ask questions, and learn from DKPD about the challenges and successes in 2024 and the goals going into 2025, according to a county spokesperson.
The community can also check out DKPD’s new mobile precinct. The DKPD mobile precinct was launched on Dec. 30 and transports officers and other DKPD members to different areas of DeKalb, allowing officers to meet with community members in popular shopping center parking lots and other heavily trafficked areas.
“Our mobile precinct is here to enhance police presence and visibility in the community. If you see us, don’t hesitate to stop by and say hello – we’re here to serve and connect with you,” stated a news release.
Those interested in joining the town halls and/or visiting the mobile precinct in January can do so at Wesley Chapel Library in Decatur on Jan. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Tucker Reid-Cofer Library in Tucker on Jan. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m., and at Tobie Grant Recreation Center in Scottdale on Jan. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.
