Police receive appreciation from little ones

As a way to give thanks, preschoolers from The Goddard School of Chamblee thanked Chamblee first responders with hand-written and delivered cards Nov. 21.

“We wanted to show our local heroes how much we appreciate them,” the Goddard School owner Akshi Naik said. “We came up with an idea of having all the children get creative and make cards for them.”

The act of kindness was a way to celebrate World Kindness Day. During the week leading up to World Kindness Day, which is celebrated internationally on Nov. 13, the children created customized thank you cards for police officers, firefighters and EMTs.

More than a dozen police officers visited the school so that students could celebrate them. The officers spent time with the children, showed off the police cruisers’ lights and let the students say thank you into the walkie talkies.

According to school officials, celebrating World Kindness Day is a way to show the importance of selflessness and morality. “Both the children and teachers recognize the importance of giving back, being a part of their community and supporting others.”

“We are proud to continue validating for the children the value of goodwill and caring for others,” said Naik.
