We are living in historic times
Whether one believes the scientific evidence or chooses to believe an alternative explanation to climate change, it is impossible to not acknowledge that our world is changing rather rapidly as we go about our daily routines.
Some people may not notice the subtle changes; however, some have experienced firsthand the damage climate-related disasters can cause.
With once-in-a-thousand-year flooding in New York and Vermont, heat waves enveloping the entire southeastern United States, and similar natural disasters playing out around the globe, it is almost impossible to not acknowledge that something is impacting our weather patterns. We have recently had day after day of record-setting hottest temperatures ever recorded on Earth. On America’s day of celebrating our independence, July 4, the world saw the hottest average temperature ever recorded. These are indisputable facts, and all are attributed to climate change.
It’s difficult for one to imagine the extent that our world may change, however it is changing so rapidly, that it is indisputable. According to CNN, since March of this year, there have been at least 112 individuals who have died in Mexico due to heat-related health problems and a recent heatwave in India is responsible for at least 44 deaths; there are similar scenarios playing out around the globe as we go about our daily routines.
Collectively, humanity must address the problems or they will soon become problems that can’t be effectively addressed. We must change our lifestyles and change the way we use our resources if there is to be much of a future for our planet.
We must encourage our own elected officials as well as leaders throughout the world to introduce, pass, and support legislation that would lessen the carbon footprint and manmade pollutants that are going into the fragile atmosphere that we have helped to create.
If each individual would do his or her part to curb their use of fossil fuels, we would soon see improvements to our environment and hopefully officials would see the difference and respond accordingly.
