‘Young Thug’ released from DeKalb jail

Rapper Young Thug was released from DeKalb County Jail Nov. 14 after spending a week behind bars.

The rapper whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was sent to jail after failing a Nov. 8 drug test. Williams has been out on bond since Sept. 27, 2017 when he was charged with eight felony drug and gun charges.

The rapper was initially pulled over Sept. 24, 2017 in Brookhaven because his window tint was too dark, according to jailing information.

“Over the last six days, I understood this is real life. I have two sons, ages 10 and 11. I don’t want them to think that going to jail — even if you can get out right away — is cool,” Williams said in court, according to an 11Alive YouTube video. “I want to grow, and I have grown. I’ve made mistakes and I’ve been penalized for them. I’m sorry, and won’t disobey again.

“I just want to be home with my family,” Williams continued.

While in jail, Williams choose not to eat or drink for 48 hours as a form of punishment for himself.

Williams has agreed to submit to random drug tests twice a week and attends substance abuse counseling, according to 11Alive.
