Dunwoody Police focus on distracted driving

The Dunwoody Police Department announced a distracted driving and pedestrian traffic safety enforcement detail in April.

According to Dunwoody Police officials, the effort was made to “make our roadways safer for those who live, work and play in Dunwoody,” said the Dunwoody Police Department in an official statement.

During the week of April 29, Dunwoody police issued 32 citations and made two arrests. Infractions included hands-free violations, seatbelt violations and drivers failing to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.

In the first arrest, the violator was found to be unlicensed and was taken into custody. In the second, the violator was found to be in possession of the illegal drug LSD, according to Dunwoody police.

The enforcement detail is meant to change driver behavior by holding drivers who do not abide by laws of the road accountable.
